Blushing Trends: It's All About Casual

As a bridal consultant who has worked in this industry for several years now I have been privy to a great shift. Bridal is something that does not change often, and is steeped in tradition. However when it does change, say every decade or so, it changes drastically. Right now we are experiencing one of those changes, the birth of the practical bride.

Brides, for the most part, are leaving the opulence of years past. Girls are want a down to earth, grass roots feel. They want an understated romance that oozes sophistication and simplicity. Brides want to feel sexy and effortless, not weighed down by layers upon layers. I for one applaud this fashion forward trend, I am curious to see however how the older boutiques transition.

However this shift makes sense. Our generation, and the one before and after us, are a no nonsense people for the most part. We have dealt with a recession, and the longest war our country has seen. Technology has taken over and I feel that a wedding is a way for people to slow down life and get back in touch with an old world sense of love and living. This has been marked with this huge rustic and vintage revival we are seeing with modern day brides. They do not want to spend too much but want something beautiful and of value. The designers have at least taken notice with modern takes on old designs, and push for light weight fabrics and delicate details.

Venue Spotlight: Paradise Cove

A Little Slice of Beach Right in Orlando

This could possibly be the best local wedding venue you have never heard of. Far from the traditional ballrooms, churches, and orthodox spaces is this hidden gem Paradise Cove. Though it's only minutes away from Disney in Buena Vista it feels like a secluded tropical island which makes having your dream beach wedding close to home and affordable.

Paradise Cove is a great venue because they are willing and able to work with a variety of budgets especially those with a less than traditional price tag. I have had several brides come into the shop and swear by this venue. Did I also mention you can bring in your own caterer and alcohol! That's enough to sell me on this great location.

But if you need more convincing check out the videos to see first hand just how unique and laid back this faux beach venue is. This venue is so ideal for the laid back bride who still has a vision for a beautiful event. Cozy fire pits, tea lights, and a scenic beach front lake are a desirable backdrop for Paradise Cove events.

Check out the Paradise Cove for contact information and to see their beautiful gallery of real weddings!

Happy 4th Everyone!

So in honor of July 4th I thought I would share some really cool patriotic wedding theme ideas. I think planning an 'All American' at home wedding would be so nostalgic and the possibilities are really endless.

Wedding Palette

Personally a 4th of July wedding was something I had considered especially since my boyfriend served in the Marine Corps and we both love the sentimentality around celebrating all the good things about our country past and present. Weddings at their core should always be about celebrating the happiness you have found with family and friends which really digs down to what this particular theme stands for.

I also loved the idea of putting a really cool retro feel to a patriotic wedding. Especially for a military couple I think it would be such a great way to honor their commitment to one another and the service to their country. A little 1940's-50's vibe reminiscent of the WWII Era, because I mean what could be more American than a white picket fence and a cherry pie.

Of course the possibilities are endless whether you choose a retro undertone or even a barbecue or picnic atmosphere there is so much a bride can do with this simple concept. Whatever you decide to do just remember this theme stands for honor, home, and country so it is important to really make your own.

I hope this post was somewhat helpful in inspiring all you brides out there. I hope you all have a wonderful and magical July 4th. Give your fiancee a big kiss under those fireworks, enjoy the company of your loved ones, and most of all remember this country is our home.

Hello World!

Ever since I entered the world of bridal it has been a dream of mine to share my passion for weddings with others. Through my own experiences as a dress consultant I have made so many personal discoveries in this field and I knew I needed to find a way to share this knowledge with the everyday local bride-to-be.

So here it is the first post of 'The Blushing Blog'©

Since it is my first post I feel I should elaborate on what exactly this blog means to me and will be to all of you reading out there. I wanted to create a place that would welcome and guide my fellow Central Florida residence on their path to matrimony along with global tips and tricks for brides near and far. I plan on doing this in a myriad of ways:

  • Weekly posts on local Central Florida wedding issues such as: vendors, bridal shows, spotlights on local brides, my own personal bridal journey and experiences as a dress consultant at Modern Bridal Shop
  • Weekly post on global tips such as: wedding checklists, DIY, wedding traditions old and new, growing trends, designers etc.
  • Pinterest boards outlining local Central Florida vendors while also organizing popular wedding themes
  • A facebook page where brides local and beyond can contact me with questions but also share their own advice and ideas

All in all I really just wanted to create a unique social networking based on my key notion that weddings should always be fun, beautiful, and memorable. I hope upon reading this initial post you can connect with my mission and will follow along on this creative and educational endeavor.

Now to bid you farewell on a positive note I will leave you with the beautiful bridal musings of couture bridal designer Badgley Mischka
